ACTIVITIES
Hiking
Finca de nada also has trails circumnavigating the property for bird, wildlife and tree watching. Also, world famous Corcovado National Park is ~5 miles away. We can help you arrange reservations, transportation and guide services. Finca de nada is the perfect place to rest up before and after a trip into the park. During peak tourist season park reservations and guide serviced need to be made well in advance.
Birding
Birders come from all over the world to view birds on the Osa Peninsula. Common residents include Toucans and Scarlet Macaws. While often mistaken as large birds, the local flying capuchin monkeys are frequently flying through the air from tree-to-tree so if you were traumatized by scenes from the Wizard of Oz as a child you might want to pickup a prescription for Xanax at the local pharmacy before arriving.
Swimming
Finca de Nada is at the end of the Golfo Dulce with lake-like calm waters perfect for safe swimming (free of motor boats & jet skiis). Year-round water temperatures are about 80F (27C). If you swim on a moonless night you are certain to experience the incredible light-show from phosphorescent plankton which is like flying through outer-space or being in the movie Fantasia with sparks of white-light illuminating your body and anything moving in the water ( Kayaks, boats, waves, fish). To many, this alone is worth the price of a ticket to Costa Rica.
Kayaking
Finca de nada has complimentary kayaks available for guests. The tranquil waters of the Golfo Dulce are ideal for wildlife watching (including humpback whales and dolphins) while cruising close to shore or in the nearby mangroves of Rio Rincon. We also have fishing gear available if you want to catch dinner while kayaking. Though crocodile attacks are rare, if you are attacked remember to put your fingers in their eye sockets to get them to release you.
Horseback Riding
We can arrange horseback riding tours through the jungle and on the beaches in the vicinity of Corcovado Park. Jaguar attacks, though possible, are infrequent if you are on the back of a horse.
Cacao
We have approximately 500 cacao (chocolate ) trees on the property. You are welcome to enjoy both the magical pulp from the Cacao fruit as well as the Cacao beans from any ripe fruit available. These trees grow rapidly and need constant maintenance so you are welcome to help out if you enjoy working with a machete or pole saw.
Relaxing
Our property is basically an island with neighbors separated by steep ridges and rocky points at either end of our private bay. Visitors are rare. You are welcome to do whatever you want on the property as long as you don't destroy anything or kill the wildlife. Lay in the hammock all day. Drink Mojitos with fresh mint from the garden. Watch the lizards chase ants. Read Alice in Wonderland in Spanish.
